This is 21st Century but unfortunately due to lack of awareness & education in Pakistan there is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender. The old system and traditions have divided the society into two big parts, Men and Women.”
Due to this discrimination, Women do not enjoy the equal rights & respect in the society as compared with male. Women are badly neglected in the families and societies, women do not get chance to share their views & wisdom. Pakistani society being orthodox and rigid to its patriarchal bounds has no space for women to practice equal and just rights. Gender discrimination further leads to uncivilized patterns of the society where women are considered as second grade citizens with no opportunities to brighter future. Lack of opportunities is another phenomenon of male domination. Lobbying & negative propagation is carried out since their childhood that the meaning of feminine is to serve the male members of the family in the form of father, brothers and husband. A special lesson is taught to every girl that she can lead a prosperous life just by the virtue of good serving and practically she has no right to speak, think and equal survival. Old women of the families mostly carry out this lobbying, which is really awful because it makes the male domination more rigid, strong and sustainable which ultimately increasing the size of gender discrimination.
Women are the 53% of the population of Pakistan. Even being the majority they had no equal rights & respect. Elections, education, family affairs, personal affairs even in all aspects women have no authority to take decisions and play active & free role.
 

• Role of HFO
  Human Friends Organization is a gender sensitive organization and believes that the starting need of the time is to educate & aware people & specially the women to fight against discrimination. These efforts will lead the women to play their active and equal role in the prosperity of the country and families. The empowerment of women is actually the empowerment of democracy that will also eliminate injustice and discrimination.
  HFO has launched “Empower the Powerless Program” which is actively promoting awareness through:

  Liaison with CSOs and expansion of true awareness and knowledge
  Capacity Building of Leadership through Trainings
  Leadership Dialogues Regarding Women Activation and Participation
  Seminars on Gender Issues
  Theatre Performances on Gender Issues
  Publications and I.E.C Material Distribution
  
  Empower the Powerless Program ensures equal participation of both Genders in all activities because until the capacity building of dominant side, empowerment of the recessive side will just yield in protest and grudge.
  On other hand, to build the Capacities of Women, HFO has established different skill centers i.e
  Sewing Centers
  Beautician Training Centers
  Traditional Embroidery Centers
  
  Being skillful from these centers now Women and Girls can earn and support their families. In this way they also participate in socio-economic cycle and could be recognized to some extent.
